Lisa and I are both retired, me from aerospace and Lisa from teaching. Until recently we have been sailors, living aboard now and then. Our last boat, a Little Harbor 54 named Chasseur, was a fine home on the water, but was a challenge at times for just the two of us. So we sold her and contracted for Privateer to be built. She was delivered in October of 2016.
9/20/2017 We have been aboard now for about a year. We commissioned in Stuart, took her to Ft Lauderdale to show her off in the boat show, then headed off to the Bahamas. Details in the posts. After the Bahamas we wandered up the ICW to our home port in Newport, RI, where we sit now, waiting to head back south.
8/20/2018 Getting on to two years aboard and doing fine with the lifestyle choice. We dont miss the land house at all, in fact rather nice not to have to maintain both a house and a boat. The boat provides plenty of opportunity for maintenance. We will head south again soon for our third season in the Bahamas. We often chat about maybe going further south to the Caribbean, but that is really a year long commitment as getting there and back is a lot of travel. And that means finding a place to hang out during the hurricane season.
We do think that next summer we will wander further north, Nova Scotia probably. We shall see. To keep going full time requires some careful planning a doctor appointments, etc. We shall see.
2/05/2023 We are now seven years into a five year plan. Soon it will be time to transition back to land so this will be our last Bahamas cruise. No idea exactly when all this will happen, or even where we might live once back to land. We will keep you posted.
